M.A.D (Mad About Drums)
The Esplanade, Concourse.
2 great evenings of Percussive madness. First, we had RDP performing their Bateria-style music. The next night, at the exact same location and time, we have M.A.D performing their Brazilian-style music.
I went to watch M.A.D with some of the Beats Encore members. Husain, Sham, Amy, Yanie, Syaza, Wann, Maya, Fai, Ima, Izzah, Dura, Zuzu, Ima, Bud, Sammie and i really can't recall who else. I'm sorry if i never state your name. Anyways...
M.A.D was superbly awesome. They had Omar, Falah, Rizal and a few others from La'selle plus Rahman. They played songs from Olodum and other brazilian numbers. My favourite for the night was when they played "No Woman No Cry", a cover originally performed by Olodum & Jimmy Cliff, and Rahman was singing.
After the show we chilled at Marina Square's McDonalds. There a few other percussionists were also there. And i got to meet one of my idol in hand percussion. Even though he may be the same age as me, but i really like to see the way he performs. He is none other than Uan Abang from Wicked Aura Batucada, or another name for him would be Mr. Afroxe.
We had chit-chat session with him, and even though it was just a normal chit-chat, but somehow i find it quite a learning experience. I really wish i would be able to learn from him some stuff.
