Happiness with sacrifice / 1st time in BLOCO SINGAPURA

To a special bunch of you.

I know that most of you all now wouldn't want to speak to me. I understand. You people might be thinking that i am ignoring you all. You people might be thinking i don't care anymore. I'm sorry. It may seem that way, but trust me, its not. In fact, everyday i miss you all. I really do.

I have my reasons. I don't need all of you to know. I don't need all of you to understand. Its something which i have to face on my own. I'm sorry. I really miss working with you people, i miss the outings we would have, the meet ups @ the "spot", and everything else we would do together. But if you people have already put me out of this circle of friendship, i don't blame you all. I understand. I'm just saying that i really miss you people.

As for that "plan" that your fellow friends have, i personally say, don't take too long to decide. Just give it a try. Don't be afraid. If you all think along the way, it is abit hard for you all, then you can always inform your fellow friends. This people are trying hard to bring your friendship to the next level. I really urge you people, give it a shot. Help them. They need you, Every single one of you. But if you are really not interested then that is a totally different story.

To my dear friend.

I really miss you alot. I miss the morning bus rides to school, the 1st break sandwich meet up, the 2nd break go makan or go to spot, the conga and djembe talk, the walk home, the hand-shake and the hug, and most importantly, YOU. I miss it all. I'm sorry. I remembered you saying, "do what you have to do, as long as we can get the old Syazni back". This is what i am doing.

-------------------------------

A Happy NIGHT!

Its my first time in BLOCO SINGAPURA. Ok, now who says playing surdo is boring. I think its nice to play the surdo. Especially when you're playing either the "cutting" or "Macasau"(i don't think the spelling is correct)". And remember, the most important thing in playing Samba is... "THE SWING". It so important. Without it, your playing will just sound so military. It was cool learning under Syed Ahmad, Omar, Sham, Jo and the rest. It was an experience. I would definately come for their practices. Actually, am looking forward for it.

------------------------------

To YOU.

I know your head is spinning because of the situation you're in right now. I know the feeling sucks. I know reality does bite you, and it will definately hurt. I'm sure you know it too. Like i said, and you've also promised already, don't ever say you've lost hope. I want you to be happy. I'm here for you at this bad moments, and i do want the happy you also. Just for your info, although we don't really do talk much, but i do care for you. Be happy ok? If you need to, settle those unsettled stuff before it gets even worse. If you do need someone to talk to, just know that i am here for you, anytime.
Don't forget to check your schedule. We'll catch Body of Lies and lets have some nice sweet munchies and just have a happy time this weekend ok?

2 nights of Percussive action.

17th November 2008
Rhythm De'Pasion
The Esplanade, Concourse.

18th November 2008
M.A.D (Mad About Drums)
The Esplanade, Concourse.

2 great evenings of Percussive madness. First, we had RDP performing their Bateria-style music. The next night, at the exact same location and time, we have M.A.D performing their Brazilian-style music.

I went to watch M.A.D with some of the Beats Encore members. Husain, Sham, Amy, Yanie, Syaza, Wann, Maya, Fai, Ima, Izzah, Dura, Zuzu, Ima, Bud, Sammie and i really can't recall who else. I'm sorry if i never state your name. Anyways...

M.A.D was superbly awesome. They had Omar, Falah, Rizal and a few others from La'selle plus Rahman. They played songs from Olodum and other brazilian numbers. My favourite for the night was when they played "No Woman No Cry", a cover originally performed by Olodum & Jimmy Cliff, and Rahman was singing.

After the show we chilled at Marina Square's McDonalds. There a few other percussionists were also there. And i got to meet one of my idol in hand percussion. Even though he may be the same age as me, but i really like to see the way he performs. He is none other than Uan Abang from Wicked Aura Batucada, or another name for him would be Mr. Afroxe.

We had chit-chat session with him, and even though it was just a normal chit-chat, but somehow i find it quite a learning experience. I really wish i would be able to learn from him some stuff.

HOT LATIN NIGHTS presents RHYTHM DE'PASION

Hot Latin Nights
presents
RHYTHM DE'PASION
live @ The Concourse, Esplanade
17th November 2008
7.15pm & 8.15pm

Consisting of 10 passion-driven young percussionists, Rhythm De'Pasion, also better known as RDP, performed @ The Esplanade for the first time. It was an amazing 2-sets of body moving grooves. Hearing and watching them performed that night just sets the place on fire with their Rhythms.

I've had the opportunity to get to know these faboulous and wonderful people, whom i would gladly say, are my friends. I also did manage to catch up with the group before their performance. To them, this opportunity to be playing at The Esplanade was "a dream come true". I could see some nerve-tension moments before the show. I was told by a member of the group, the feeling was different then performing in other venues. This time around, it is a performance that features them as the main highlight. To me, they deserved this night. This night, was definately their night.

To RDP:
These are your very friends who came down to support you people on your big night.
This one's for you!

A Special Dedication (Belated)... 16.11.2008

HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY FAIZ!

What can i say about this guy. One thing for sure is, i can imitate his laughter. Sometimes i think i even laugh like him. Ter-ikot2. He is just fabulous to have around, whether as a friend to talk to, to chill with, or as a fellow percussionist. Playful and stubborn sometimes, or can i say most of the time. But then again, when i was his age back then, i can't say i was much different. A nice brotha, who is always cheerful, happy, caring, friendly and nice to talk to (but sometimes abit "cekik darah", haha.)

There is one thing about this brotha you can't ignore. His positive attitude towards situations. When things are down, he is always there with a positive attitude to keep things going. His courage to try and learn new things, which i have seen during practices. I personally am definately proud to have been able to perform alongside with him in a few occasions in school. Keep learning brotha, and you'll make it to be a good percussionist one day.

Happy 17th Birthday to you. May Allah bless you with all the good things this world can give. Semoga Allah memberkatimu dan panjangkan umurmu. Amin.

Tribal Love,
Syazni "Shaz-Bo" Sukarman.

p/s: Sorry, i didn't get you anything for your b'dae. As for your "that" plan for the future of "IJ", i hope it works out. I admire the spirit that you and the others have to pursue such a plan. It will be a great challenge for you and the rest, but i know you can face it. If you need any help, i'm always here to help as much as i can.... and 1 more thing, please learn how to swallow a tablet. I can't always be there to crush it for you. Wahahahaz. Just kidding. Take care.

3 Nights of REFLECTIONS

Beats Encore has already done its part for REFLECTIONS 2008. Now its time for us to support the other IGs and performances. Well, from Thursday, 13th Nov until Saturday, 15th Nov, I personally enjoyed 3 fun nights of performances.

13th November, Thursday
REPLUG: An Acoustic Night

I really enjoyed this performance by the RePlug IG.
Who would have thought they turned the studio into a "lounge-like" environment. Their vocals we darn good. They had good musicians too. I really had a great night of music that is soothing to the ears. They brought to the audience songs like "Hotel California (Eagles)", "In The End (Linkin Park)", "Take a Bow (Rihanna)", and many more.

All in all, i would like to say... GO REPLUG!

--------------------

14th November, Friday.
Hossan, LIVE!

Ok, I admit i am not really a fan of Hossan Leong, but who would want to miss his Stand-up comedy show. A night filled with laughters that could make your stomache burst. A broadway, jazz style show. Plus his touch of stand-up jokes.

Hossan! You rock my belly! (Woah, that sounds so wrong!)

--------------------

15th November, Saturday.
Artistic Tapestry

First of all, before i say anything about the show, i would like everyone to know, that it is also my MAMA's BIRTHDAY!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMA! ABANG LOVE YOU SO VERY VERY MUCH!

Artistic Tapestry featured alot of different performances.
The Dragon Dance performance was awesome. There was also the indian dance, the wushu gang, chinese orchestra and more.

There was also two celebrities. One from Vasantham, Mohd Shabir. The other from MediaCorp and Suria, Hyrul Anuar.

But the best performances for the night definately goes out to the Malay Cultural group and also to the drummers from ZinGo Drums. They were awesome and fantastic. I cannot explain. If you've missed it, you've missed alot of quality shows.

"You came with a different purpose. I was about to find the calmness. But somehow it just had to come again. I know how happy it is for you, and i just want to give you the biggest smile i can and say how happy i am for you too. But the truth is, i'm hurting inside. I'm hurting real bad. If i knew, i would have just made it a day for myself. Which would be so much nicer. Maybe the signs are showing. I know what i've promised, but perhaps that promise is just going to end up hurting me more. I can't hold it in me for too long. I'm sorry. But my promise is this. When i've let you go, i'll come back. I promise."
